Shoveling is Fun

Boston was hit with another snowstorm today. We had fun though, going outside to shovel with Carol's mom!

Production Notes:
This video was shot with my Canon S400. I imported the .avi files into Final Cut Pro, and then resized each of them to fill the frame. You've got to turn on Image+Wireframe AND Title Safe. Then you click open each clip and then click and drag it to fill the frame.

Next, I edited all the segments together and exported the movie.

Then I imported the movie into Soundtrack and added the music. After that, I exported the music as a .aif file and imported that into FCP.

Once in FCP, I adjusted the levels for the music.

Finally, I exported the completed movie, opened it with Sorenson Squeeze, and exported a final .mov file.

Once that was complete, I droped the file into my vblogcentral client, and vblogcentral then created versions in QuickTime, Windows ands Real. When completed, the resulting video was posted here.

Java Jo's Grand Opening

John Tobin attended the grand opening at Java Jo's in Jamaica Plain.

"It's a great thing for Jamaica Plain. It's become a real meeting place fo the community. Looking forward to more store openings across our city. These types of small businesses are the heartbeat of the community. The more ribbon cuttings the better. Hopefully we can getthis replicated across the district," John Tobin.

On the Record: Berkman Bloggers

Here's my video from Thursday night's Berkman Bloggers meeting, which was also shot by a film crew from Nightline.
A record turnout, somewhat ironically, ensued; despite the enormous crowd, interesting discussion took place. The producer gave the group permission to blog that they had filmed us, and blog they did; along with the live notes taken by a regular group member, many other posts have sprung up around the web.

Silverline

When you switch from the Orange line to the Red line on the MBTA trains in Boston, you can catch a glimpse of the Silver line.

They've got buses running in tunnels underground!

While waiting for a Red line train, we were entertained by someone who was actually entertaining.

Beercasting

Here's a short video about the Beercasting Across America Tour. Gregory Narain of Beercasting.com brought the tour to Cambridge Commons after a recent Berkman Thursday Meeting.

Mike Walsh wrote about it too, Berkman BeerCast on Mating Patterns
Some of the Berkman regulars appeared in a BeerCast recently. Lisa Williams explains the mating patterns of geeks, Steve Garfield tells how to attract young redheads with cookies and Michael Feldman explains how to avoid Colombian border police with a truly half baked cake.

Welcome

Last night at Harvard, I gave the folks at the Berkman Center Thursday meeting a sneak peak at the first video I produced for Boston City Councillor John Tobin.

It's exciting for me to be working with Councillor Tobin to demonstrate the power of video blogging.

Treo 650 Videos

I met Bill Wendel at a recent Boston Bloggers Meet Up.

He showed us videos that he took on his Treo 650 phone. The quality is really amazing.

I asked him if I could share his video so you could see what it looks like.

Bill says, "he took the videos on Jan. 17 @ the following clubs on South Beach."

Flamenco Dancer:
Ocean Ten
Shot in daylight hours outside

MANGO'S TROPICAL CAFE
900 Ocean Dr
Miami Beach, FL 33139
(South Beach)
305-673-4422
This open-air club showcases a revue of hard bodies in tight outfits shaking to tropical beats -- can you say steamy? The cabaret-style celebration attempts to bring out the Latin lover in everybody.
