VLOG SOUP #4

With 672 unwatched videos in my FireAnt queue, here is this week's tour of the vlogosphere. I hope that this tour will introduce you to some vloggers that you'll want to keep watching.

I had a chance to watch a bunch of videos on a nice four hour train ride from Boston to NYC last weekend.

Carol and Steve go on vacation to Maine and visit York's Wild Kingdom. Carol used to go there when she was little.

The park was closed, but that didn't stop Carol and Steve from exploring.

They check out the Haunted House, the Fun House, see an elephant, a gorilla and end up with a ride on the Merry Go Round.

Video: New Mural at Zesto's

Boston City Councillor John Tobin went over to Zesto's Pizza and Grille and filed this video report on the new mural that was painted by the Mayor's Mural Crew and the kids from the new WGBH TV show Fetch!

38 Beer Tasting

We're lucky to live in Boston, home to two breweries, Sam Adams and Harpoon. Carol and I were invited to a tasting of a new Harpoon 100 Barrel Series release, Framboise.

Not one of my favorite styles, but Carol enjoyed it. We went home with a growler of Octoberfest.

VLOG SOUP - EPISODE 2

Here's a new crop of videoblog posts that I found interesting.

Thanks for all the great feedback in comments and via email about Episode 1 of Vlog Soup. It encouraged me to put together Episode 2.

What I do to create this episode is watch a bunch of recent vlogs using FireANT, then when I see one I find interesting I 'flag' it.

After gather up a number of videos, I click and drag them in a folder. Then I import them into Final Cut Pro and select a representative section to highlight.

Next, I line up all the clips on the timeline and then, to save time, I record an intro to each one, direct to disk, using Sorenson Squeeze.

I recorded all the intros without checking each one and after I was done, I saw that a few of them had some capture problems. These problems make the intros look a little like the old Max Headroom. I like it! So instead of re-recording them, I'm leaving them as is...

It'll probably be tricky to recreate that effect for next time... We'll see...
